1. Lie the person down on their side in a comfortable position. Ensure the head is sitting straight and not at an angle.

2. Fit the lit ear candle gently but tightly into the ear canal with a slight twisting movement. Do not force it into the canal.

3. Hold the ear candle loosely during the process. Avoid squeezing tightly and keep it as vertical as possible.

4. Leave the ear candle in place until it has burned down to one centimeter above the red line, NO FURTHER! Carefully remove from the ear and extinguish it in a glass of water.

5. Check to see if any residue remains in the ear, and remove it with an ear cleaner or wooden stick being careful not to push the residue back into the ear.
